In The Beginning

Eye Of The Storm

This is my very first digital composite. I had taken a photograph of a young woman I met on model mayhem. Almost a year later, I took it out of my digital archives and begin playing around with adding other images. I decided on an image of rain and one of clouds. It was pretty simple, but I had no idea of the satisfaction it would give me. I've been hooked every since.

I wish I could paint. I don't think I can, but who knows, I've never really tried. I do know that I'm not very good at drawing and I have proof.

I once heard someone say that the difference between painting and photography is in painting, you start with a blank canvas and you add as you go along to bring an image to life. Photography is more of an art of subtraction. You start with a scene and then make conscious decisions to remove elements so that the frame includes only what you want.

I find digital composting to be include both of these traits. You start with with a photographic image in which elements were removed when framing to include only what was wanted, but then you begin to add other elements in order to create the desired image. It's a method I have come to love.
